Happy ‘Eid al-Fitr’

Eid al-Fitr is a highly celebrated Muslim celebration that occurs after the end of Ramadan, when Muslims fast from dawn to sunset; thus, Eid al-Fitr is also known as the ‘celebration of Breaking Fast.’ Many people celebrate the event by paying visits to friends and family, exchanging gifts, and preparing special foods and sweets that are associated with the occasion. In several South Asian nations, such as Pakistan and India, elders of the society offer money presents to youngsters, known as ‘Eidi.’ Other religious traditions observe Muslims attending special prayers on Eid. After the prayer, all Muslims in the congregation, be it strangers or friends, share Eid greetings by hugging each other.
