India-Pakistan Ceasefire Follows Days of Conflict and Precision Strikes
Prime Minister Narendra Modi chaired a high-level security meeting with key ministers and military leaders following a four-day military conflict with Pakistan, which concluded with a ceasefire agreement. National Security Advisor Ajit Doval and the Chiefs of Defence Services attended the meeting, held at Modi’s residence. Despite the ceasefire, Indian border forces remain on high alert amid ongoing infiltration attempts.
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh later inaugurated the BrahMos Aerospace facility in Lucknow, highlighting “Operation Sindoor” as a testament to India’s strategic resolve and counterterrorism capabilities. The ceasefire, brokered after a call between the military operations chiefs of both nations, came after Indian precision airstrikes targeted terror infrastructure in Pakistan and PoK in retaliation for the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack that claimed 26 lives.
Despite initial agreement, Pakistan violated the ceasefire hours later with cross-border shelling and drone activity, prompting India to warn of firm responses to further violations. The situation in Jammu and Kashmir has since stabilised, although security remains heightened.
