Ireland women beats Scotland women in final T20 match, seals series 3-1

BELFAST: Ireland women returned to international cricket with a bang, defeating Scotland 3-1 in a four-match T20 international series.

Neither team had played international cricket since their last encounter in September 2019, and despite losing the opening game, the Irish women came back stronger, winning three of the four games in the series.

Scotland women defeated Ireland women by 11 runs in the first match of the series, while Ireland women avenged themselves in the second match with a massive 61-run victory.

In the third T20 match, Ireland batted first and put up a respectable total of 134 runs. Scotland had a chance to win after skipper Kathryn Bryce scored 45 runs, but they were dismissed for 93 runs.

After winning two of the first three games, Ireland women were leading and was just one win away from clinching the series. Gaby Lewis’ Player of the Match batting display and Player of the Series Leah Paul’s outstanding bowling performance helped Ireland Women win the last match and seal the series 3-1.

The series was supposed to begin on May 23rd, but owing to weather, the first match was rescheduled to May 25th. All of the matches were held at Belfast’s Civil Service Cricket Club.
