Italy declares a national state of emergency… seeks financial assistance from the EU Commission
Rome: Italy is struggling with illegal immigrants and refugees. In recent days, there has been a significant increase in the number of immigrants and refugees arriving in Italy. Following this, the Italian government has declared a national emergency. It is also stated that the European Commission has been requested to provide additional financial assistance.
The European Commission said that it is in contact with Rome on this issue. The spokesperson of the Commission said that it has noticed Italy’s decision to declare a state of emergency against immigrants.
Italy is already receiving the Commission’s assistance on immigration and is one of the main beneficiaries of the EU Fund for Migration and Integration, the spokesperson said.
