MONAGHAN: Following the announcement of the decision to recruit home care assistants from abroad, companies in Ireland are coming forward with more job openings.
The Irish Department of Labour on Monday approved an amendment to the law that would allow social workers and health care assistants to apply directly to work in Ireland from non-EU countries, including India.
Monaghan-based Irish HomeCare company is hiring 750 new employees as part of a plan to double its workforce. The appointments are made to the position of career, managers, nurses, and administrative support staff.
The company currently employs 750 people, and the latest move is part of a service sector expansion. The job vacancies will be filled over the next 18 months.
The company said 700 of the new openings will be for for carers and will be part-time. The remaining 50 vacancies are full-time positions for nurses, managers, and administrative support, it said.
Irish Home Care is also planning to open a new center in Dublin. But the current vacancies are to different parts of the country.
Irish Homecare is an institution that aims to provide a range of care and support services to help people live independently, safely and with dignity.
As part of its expansion, Irish HomeCare CEO John Florence said that the company intends to provide a high level of service to vulnerable people in the society. “Through our extensive range of support services, we enable people to maintain their independence in the comfort of their own homes within their communities,” Mr. Florence added.
Tánaiste Leo Varadkar welcomed the announcement, saying, “These are jobs doing essential work for those that need it most, in communities all across the country.”
