Haji Wright, a substitute, gave the United States hope in the 76th minute, with Christian Pulisic assisting. But it was short-lived, as Dumfries transformed into a goal scorer in the 81st minute, volleying a Blind cross to make it 3-1 for the Dutch.

On the other hand, Australia gave the two-time winners a fright when Craig Goodwin’s effort was deflected off Enzo Fernandez’s face for an own goal in the 77th minute.
In the end, Messi and his team kept their nerve to go on to the next round.
