Against the backdrop of the COVID spread around the world, WHO chief Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said there was no guarantee that the vaccines currently being developed would be effective. He was speaking at a virtual conference.
‘None of the vaccines currently being tested can be guaranteed to be effective. More experiments are underway. The chances of getting the vaccine safe and effective are very high’- Tedros said.
More than 200 vaccines are currently being tested clinically and pre – clinically worldwide.
He said some of the vaccine trials were likely to fail and some to succeed.
The goal is to make the COVID vaccine available in all countries of the world. He said efforts were being made to control the pandemic, save lives and revive the economy.
