The rally was attended by people demanding that Dublin’s delivery drivers should be given safe roads and that those responsible for Cortez’s death should be arrested immediately.

Most of the delivery employees in Dublin are migrant workers and the dangerous roads are always a threat to them.

Cortes’ fiancé Theresa Dontas and friends and delivery cyclists attended a protest rally on O’Connell Street.

Cortez’s housemate Adriana Curos said she hopes Garda’s investigation will find the culprits soon. She said that Cortez was a nice guy.

Cortes’ fiancé miss Dondas initially tried to speak to the media but later she broke into tears. At the same time, Cortes’ mother could not come to Ireland from Brazil because she did not have a passport.

Those who knew Cortes shared their grief by weeping and embracing each other. Hundreds of Deliveroo workers in uniform took part in the protest along with several other non-Deliveroo workers.

Kareena Jesus, a 24 – year – old Brazilian woman who has been working in Dublin for five months, said that although delivery is a favorite pastime of migrant workers and students but, working in Dublin can be dangerous on weekends and during major tourist events.

Kareena says that the roads are often unsafe and this is a challenge not only for delivery cyclists, but for all cyclists.

‘Delivery is a popular job, but one of his colleagues has long been worried about losing his life on the roads in Dublin,’ said an unnamed delivery employee.
