On Saturday, India beat Lebanon 4-2 (0-0) in the SAFF Championship semi-finals in Bengaluru. The game was forced to a penalty shootout after neither team could score a goal during regular or extra time. The score was still 0-0. The Blue Tigers launched some effective attacks, but they lacked execution. Lebanon, on the other hand, struggled to finish, although they performed well back in their own box to neutralise India’s threat. Sunil Chhetri’s first goal and Gurpreet Singh Sandhu’s save placed India ahead of Lebanon in the penalty shootout, which the hosts eventually won 4-2.
