Seven EU countries launches digital COVID passport ahead of schedule

DUBLIN: Even before the European Union officially launched the digital vaccine passport system, which seeks to make travel across Europe easier, certain EU member states began using it yesterday.

Greece, Germany, Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Croatia, and Poland are among the countries that have begun issuing the certificates. These countries have introduced certificates that can be used across the Europe.

The EU’s digital green certificate is set to go live for all 27 member states on July 1. A month before that, these countries had introduced the new system.

The COVID certificate comes in the form of a QR code and is available in digital or paper form, free of charge.
