Siblings were given € 10,000 as compensation by Tesco, after they fell ill by drinking milk brought from Tesco

Two young brothers who fell ill after drinking expired milk from Tesco were given € 10,000 as compensation.

Both of them were siblings and minors, they launched a complaint against Tesco Ireland Limited through their mother.

Judge Marie Quirke adjourned until November to approve the settlement offer.

Paul O’Shea BL appeared for the brothers at the Dublin District Court. He said to the judge that the milk which the kids consumed was purchased from Tesco in Ashbourne on December 29th last year and the expiry date was over three days before the purchase.

The boys started vomiting and also suffered from diarrhea after drinking the milk after a day of its purchase. One of the boys was only 10 years old.

When their mother returned to the supermarket to complaint and the supermarket offered her a fresh bottle of milk.

The court was told that the kids were having a bad health for two-three days, but the effects didn’t last long.

The court heard that there may have been an element of maternal negligence, but Tesco admitted full liability.
