Suir Engineering Plans to Add 200 Jobs Following a Remarkable 41% Turnover Surge in 2023

Waterford-based Suir Engineering is poised for significant expansion, announcing the creation of 200 new jobs following an impressive 41% turnover growth in 2023. CEO John Kelly disclosed a turnover of €429m for the preceding year, highlighting enhanced liquidity.

Specialising in mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, and high-voltage engineering services, Suir operates across Ireland, Sweden, Denmark, Germany, Finland, and the UK. With 40 years in the industry, the company caters to diverse sectors, including pharmaceuticals, life sciences, data centres, and a growing presence in energy, power, and renewables.

Kelly noted a fourfold increase in Suir’s energy division over six years, now generating €120m annually with projects spanning Ireland and the UK. Bolstered by a record €500 million order intake in 2023, Suir anticipates another exceptional year in 2024, buoyed by client confidence and a skilled workforce.

To support this growth trajectory, Suir plans to augment its workforce from 1,500 to 1,700 employees, with vacancies available for electricians, engineers, and instrument technicians. Established in Kilkenny in 1984 and acquired by private equity group Duke Street in 2022, Suir maintains a strategic presence across multiple locations, including Dublin, Stockholm, Copenhagen, London, and Frankfurt.
