Survey results indicate that Sinn Féin will lead Ireland next
DUBLIN: New survey results point to the possibility that Sinn Féin could lead Ireland next. Sinn Féin received the highest support in a survey on which coalition should come to power next.
At the same time, Jim O’Callaghan of Fianna Fáil said he could not say for sure at this time whether his party would form an alliance with Sinn Féin before the next general election, or whether Fianna Fáil would govern next time.
Meanwhile, the Irish Times reports that more than 20 Fianna Fáil TDs have said they will not refuse if they have to negotiate an alliance with Sinn Féin in the future. Mr. O’Callaghan’s response came shortly after the report was released.
At the same time, there are reports that the rise of Sinn Féin support could lead to fierce competition in the next election.
In an opinion poll conducted by an online portal in Ireland, the ruling coalition was shocked to find overwhelming support for the idea of forming a cabinet with Sinn Féin and smaller parties in the next election.
