Tusla boss Bernard Gloster to head HSE

Dublin: The Head of State Child and Family Agency, Tusla, Bernard Gloster, is the new head of the HSE. Bernard Gloster has been appointed as the new CEO of the HSE.

The appointment was made through an open and competitive selection process, according to the HSE. HSE Board Chairman Ciaran Devane announced Gloster’s appointment.

He is expected to take up his new role in mid-2023. Bernard Gloster, a Limerick native, was appointed CEO of Tusla in September 2019. Goster has worked in the health service for over 30 years, holding a number of senior management positions, including the post of Chief Officer of HSE Mid West Community Healthcare. He has worked in both community and acute hospital operations.

A professional social worker, Gloster holds an MBA from Oxford Brookes University and an MSc in Management Practice from UCC.

Health Minister Stephen Donnelly also welcomed Gloster’s appointment. Gloster said he was delighted to be at the helm of an organisation of so much importance to the public.
