Two further deaths and 159 new covid cases reported in Ireland

Today Ireland registered 159 new Covid-19 cases. Two further deaths also reported by health officials.

The total number of Covid cases now stands at 30,730 in the country and the death toll rose to 1783.

Of the confirmed cases today, 70 are men and 89 are women. 65% are under 45 years of age.

When 51% are confirmed to be associated with outbreaks or are close contacts of a confirmed case, 23 cases have been identified as community transmission.

75 cases are registered in the capital city, 10 in Cork, 6 in Donegal, 6 in Meath, 5 in Laois and Wexford and the remaining 46 cases are in Carlow, Cavan, Clare, Galway, Kerry, Kildare, Kilkenny, Leitrim, Limerick, Longford, Mayo, Offaly, Roscommon, Tipperary, Waterford, Westmeath and Wicklow.

Even today, the capital has the highest number of confirmed cases of Covid-19. When other counties in Ireland are battling the Covid-19, Dublin is the only county where there are no signs of hopes.

Acting CMO, Dr. Ronan Gynn said today evening that 47% of today cases are in Dublin City and County.

He said the decisions of each individual will bring changes in the Country. He urged people of Dublin to withdraw their plans for the weekend, to reduce the number of people they meet, and to avoid large crowds.
