Social Media Debunks Alleged Attack on Imam as Myth

Dublin: Dr. Umar Al Qadri, Chairperson of the Irish Muslim Council, expressed his appreciation for those who condemned the recent attack in Dublin. While acknowledging the supportive response, he also addressed an ongoing social media campaign attempting to discredit the incident, labelling it as a myth and suggesting ulterior motives.

Emphatically rebutting these claims, the Imam recounted the events of the attack, which occurred last Thursday night in Tallaght as he met with two individuals regarding a marriage matter. He denounced the false information spread by a particular group, expressing disappointment at their attempts to undermine the reality of the assault.

Al Qadri cautioned against falling prey to such misleading campaigns, expressing confidence in the government’s commitment to justice and the Garda investigation’s prompt resolution.

In a post shared on [platform], the Imam expressed gratitude for the overwhelming support received from numerous individuals. Guided by principles of forgiveness and reconciliation, he initially characterised the incident as a robbery and attack. However, Al Qadri urged for a deeper consideration of the incident’s severity, emphasising the need to recognise it as a serious assault case.
