Taoiseach Simon Harris to Hold First Meeting with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas Following Ireland’s Recognition of Palestine

Dublin: Taoiseach Simon Harris is set to meet with Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas for their first discussion since Ireland recognised the state of Palestine in May. The meeting will focus on initiatives for a ceasefire in the Middle East, the release of Israeli hostages, and the urgent need for humanitarian aid to Gaza. Harris emphasised that Ireland’s recognition aims to sustain the hope for a two-state solution, allowing for peaceful coexistence between Palestine and Israel. Additionally, he will engage in bilateral discussions with King Abdullah of Jordan and UN Secretary-General António Guterres following the opening of the United Nations General Assembly.
