Man Appears in Court Accused of Attempting to Kill Wife by Setting Her on Fire
A man, Joseman Sasi Puzhakkeparambil, appeared in Coleraine Magistrates Court accused of attempting to murder his wife by setting her on fire. The 29-year-old, known as Sasi, allegedly poured kerosene in their home, causing an explosion that left his wife with severe burns covering 25% of her body. While the victim claimed the fire was accidental, neighbors reported hearing a heated argument, and her colleagues suspected previous abuse. Despite the defense arguing for bail, citing a lack of direct evidence and no history of violence, Judge Peter King denied bail due to the severity of the charges and the absence of a suitable address. The case was adjourned to October 22.
