CAB Raids Target Organised Crime Groups in West Dublin
Blanchardstown: The Garda Criminal Assets Bureau (CAB) conducted a significant operation targeting properties linked to organised crime groups in West Dublin as election campaigns continued. The timing of the raids allowed Gardaí to operate without political interference, seizing assets and disrupting criminal networks.
Seizures and Assets Confiscated
The operation resulted in the seizure of:
- Drugs, including cannabis.
- Electronic devices such as laptops and mobile phones.
- €400,000 in cash.
- 23 high-end vehicles, including Range Rovers, Isuzu trucks, and BMWs.
- Related documentation and evidence.
Bank accounts associated with the crime groups were also frozen, and impounded vehicles were transported using articulated trucks.
The operation involved over 130 Gardaí from national, specialist, and local units. The CAB collaborated with the: Garda Emergency Response Unit, Armed Support Unit, Stolen Motor Vehicle Investigation Unit, and Customs Dog Unit.
Searches were conducted across 14 locations in Dublin, reflecting the scale and coordination of the effort.
Links to International Crime
Gardaí revealed that the Dublin-based drug trafficking group had established connections with organised crime networks in Albania, indicating the transnational nature of their operations.
