Foreign Technicians Deployed to Assist ESB in Storm Daragh Aftermath
Dublin: The ESB has enlisted the support of international technicians to accelerate the restoration of electricity to hundreds of homes still without power following the extensive damage caused by Storm Daragh. Crews from France arrived yesterday via Rosslare Europort and have been dispatched to assist in critical restoration efforts, though initial operations at the port remain incomplete.
Electricity network operators in Ireland, the UK, and France are coordinating their efforts in response to the widespread outages. This evening, 60 specialist officers from ENEDIS, the French equivalent of the ESB, have been deployed to key affected regions, including the northwest, midlands, and southeast.
Scale of Destruction
Storm Daragh left approximately 375,000 properties across Ireland without power, marking it as the most destructive weather event since Cyclone Ophelia in 2017. Given the severity of the damage, ESB officials warn that full restoration may take up to a week for some customers.
The ESB continues to work tirelessly to address the widespread damage, with international assistance expected to expedite the process and minimise the disruption for affected households and businesses.
