RTÉ Allocates €1.75 Million for Tax-Free Vouchers Despite Financial Challenges
Dublin: RTÉ has announced it will distribute €1.75 million in tax-free vouchers to its employees, even as the broadcaster faces ongoing financial difficulties. The vouchers, valued at €1,000, €600, and €200, will be allocated to staff in line with an interim agreement reached last month between RTÉ and its Trade Union Group (TUG).
Under the scheme, 1,600 employees will receive vouchers worth €1,000 each, 200 employees will receive €600, and 100 employees will be allocated €200. The arrangement will remain in effect until April 30, 2025, by which time a new salary agreement is expected to be implemented.
An RTÉ spokesperson confirmed that both parties have agreed to continue discussions on pay claims in the coming year. The decision follows a pay claim submitted by the TUG in October, which sought a flat-rate salary increase of €1,500 and an additional 6% hike.
