University of Galway Appoints Professor Lokesh Joshi as Acting Vice-President for Research and Innovation

Dublin: The University of Galway has announced the appointment of Professor Lokesh Joshi as the Acting Vice-President for Research and Innovation. A distinguished academic of Indian origin, Professor Joshi currently serves as a Stokes Professor of GlycoSciences at the university.

Previously, he held the role of Vice-President for Research from 2013 to 2020, where he led a strategic agenda aimed at advancing excellence in research, innovation, and entrepreneurship.

With over three decades of international experience, Professor Joshi’s research focuses on the role of complex carbohydrates in biological systems, particularly in understanding protein-carbohydrate interactions in health and disease.

In addition to his academic contributions, he is the founder of Aquila Bioscience, a University of Galway spin-out dedicated to developing innovative strategies for protection against infectious diseases.
