Foreign Visitor Numbers to Ireland Drop 4% in April; Spending Falls 10%
Dublin: Ireland welcomed 528,100 overseas visitors in April 2025, a 4% decline compared to April 2024 but a 14% increase from April 2023, according to the latest data from the Central Statistics Office (CSO). Visitor spending totalled €375 million (excluding fares), down 10% year-on-year but up 1% from 2023.
The majority of tourists came from Great Britain (41%), followed by the U.S. (18%). Holidays were the main reason for travel (40%), with visits to friends or relatives (38%) also common. Total overnight stays reached 3.4 million, while the average stay length was 6.5 nights.
Spending breakdown: Great Britain (€96m), Continental Europe (€134m), North America (€121m), and the rest of the world (€25m).
