Hospital officials fulfilled last wish of COVID-19 patient before he died

LONDON: Hospital officials helped a corona virus patient fulfil his last wish before he died. The critical care unit at a hospital in the North West of England was able to satisfy the urge to eat Guinness before dying. Guinness is the most famous drink in Ireland.

Despite being a very busy hospital, the nurses and doctors found time to fulfill the patient’s wishes. The hospital did this after finding that the patient’s body was not responding to treatment.

Critical care consultant Dr. Shondipon Laha said it was becoming the responsibility of the hospital to take care of all the patients who have to die without family members.

“We think that’s as important as all the other stuff we do. But it’s emotionally draining,” Dr. Laha said. He explained that it is heartbreaking to inform the family that the treatment of their loved one is being stopped.

Sometimes it is a situation where the world seems to be too far away. Dr. Laha said that he often sees people walking around as if the pandemic wasn’t happening. “It’s like two different worlds,” he added.
