A foreigner who got a job in Ireland with all the fake certificates, jailed

Louth: A Zimbabwean man who got a job as a child psychologist using fake documents was jailed. The doctor, who shamed foreigners living decently in Ireland, was sentenced to four years in prison by the court. Nikiwe Dube, 41, of Drogheda, Louth, is the protagonist of the story.

He was caught while attempting to participate in the HSE interview by entering the employment book of TTM Healthcare, a recruiting agency, through fraud. He was found with fake documents with Garda stamps.

He forged a psychological transcript, an identification badge, and a medical certificate from the Psychological Society of Ireland.

Judge Duffy reduced the five-and-a-half-year sentence to four years, saying Dube’s confession was valuable because it was a difficult case to prove. The positive probation report and the Governor’s report that he was diabetic were also accepted by the court. The court also stated that the sentence will be effective from August 5, 2022, when he was taken into custody for the first time.

Judge Elva Duffy stated that the man, who lacked academic credentials, had obtained a job as a child psychologist through deception. The judge assessed that this scholar, who pretended to be an expert, had defrauded a group of children and teenagers who were in extreme trouble.

TTM Healthcare, a recruitment agency, attempted to hire a senior child psychologist with an annual salary of 80,000 euros in February 2022. The head of the psychology department at Avista Medical, who reviewed this application, expressed concerns about his qualifications and referred it to the human resources department. The fake documents were caught one by one during the checks.

TTM Healthcare, a recruitment agency, also handed over documents to the Garda, including a validation letter, a GNIB card, transcripts from the University of Zimbabwe, and a Zimbabwe Police Clearance Certificate. Dube submitted documents to TTM Healthcare, including a Master of Science in Clinical Psychology transcript. Diploma in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, He had also provided the GNIB card, validation letter, and Garda vetting forms for TTM Healthcare and HSE.

Dube also had an identification badge from PSI. The society did not issue such badges. PSI confirmed with the University of Zimbabwe that Dube did not study there. The Garda Immigration Office in Navan also confirmed that the stamp on the transcript had not been issued.

Gardai arrested Dube in Drogheda in August 2022. He is still in custody. He revealed that he had bought these fake documents online for 4,300 euros.

He also worked as a child psychologist at Gateway Residential Care in Sligo between November 2019 and November 2021, as per the evidence obtained. During this period, he received a salary of 172,000 euros. In November 2021, Dube also got a job at a locum post. His salary was 11,628 euros. But due to COVID, he did not have to deal much with patients and others.

Dube, who was born in Zimbabwe, worked as an LGBT counsellor for six years before fleeing the country due to safety concerns. In 2018, he applied for international protection.
