A revised list of employment permits in Ireland will be published by November

Dublin: Enterprise Minister Simon Coveney has revealed that the government is preparing to unveil changes to the list of employment permits in Ireland, with an announcement expected in mid-November.

This eagerly awaited announcement holds the potential to significantly impact thousands of employees, particularly nursing-care assistants, who are eager for measures that might facilitate family reunification for care assistants from non-EU countries. The impending restructuring of the job list is set to address some of the labor shortages in Ireland, as confirmed by Minister Simon Coveney.

Coveney stated, “The scrutiny of the submissions received in the latest public consultation for the review of employment lists, held from June to August this year, is being completed with respect to other departments.” This development marks a crucial step in the process, bringing the anticipated restructuring one step closer to realisation.

In the realm of healthcare, approximately 100 organisations, including Overseas Health and Home Cares, a collective of Indian care assistants in Ireland, have submitted petitions for review as they await the government’s decision. Their hopes are tied to the potential changes that may arise from this impending announcement.
