Argentina, Led by Lionel Messi, to Face Canada in the Copa America 2024 Opener

Lionel Messi’s Argentina, the reigning Copa America champions and World Cup 2022 winners, will kick off their 2024 campaign against Canada in Group A at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta. The match is scheduled for 8 p.m. (ET) on Thursday, June 20, and will be broadcast live on FOX, FS1, and the Fox Sports App in the US.

The tournament, which features 16 teams, including six guest teams from CONCACAF, marks Argentina’s bid to defend their continental title. After facing Canada, they will meet Chile on June 25 and Peru five days later.

Manager Scaloni has included Manchester United’s Alejandro Garnacho and Valentin Carboni from Monza in his squad, opting not to call up veterans Paulo Dybala, Angel Correa, and Lucas Balerdi. Lionel Messi leads the team as they aim to retain the Copa America title in the United States.
