Childcare Crisis Looms as Providers Warn of a Three-Day Strike!

The Federation of Early Childhood Providers (FECP) has announced that a “significant” number of childcare providers are poised to shutter their operations and embark on a three-day strike later this month.

A demonstration is scheduled to take place outside Leinster House in Dublin from September 26th to September 28th. The FECP, representing over a thousand providers in the sector, asserts that creche owners are being compelled to cease their services due to escalating expenses.

The core funding introduced in Budget 2022 was intended to provide financial support to early-learning and school-age childcare providers, with the aim of enhancing affordability for parents. However, the FECP contends that this funding has not translated into increased financial compensation for providers.

Minister for Children, Roderic O’Gorman, expressed earlier this week that the forthcoming strike organized by FECP is unjustified.
