Electricity Bills Fell Slightly in 2023, But Two Counties Saw Median Costs Exceed €1,000, CSO Reports

Dublin: Electricity bills in Ireland decreased slightly in 2023, with the median annual bill at €880, a 3% drop from 2022, according to the Central Statistics Office (CSO). While 58% of households paid less than €1,000, two counties—Kildare (€1,020) and Meath (€1,011)—had median bills exceeding €1,000. The lowest bills were found in Donegal (€726), Leitrim (€753), and Mayo (€799).

Energy expert Briain Kelly advised that switching providers, monitoring consumption, and making simple lifestyle changes can help reduce costs. Home energy upgrades, such as better insulation and solar panels, can also significantly lower bills.
