Fingal County Council Approves Land Grant for Hindu Temple in Ireland
Blanchardstown, Dublin— In a significant move promoting cultural inclusivity, Fingal County Council has approved the allocation of government land at a no-cost rate for the construction of a Hindu temple and community centre in Ireland.
The €850,000 plot, located in the Tyrrelstown area, has been granted to Apurva Charity at a 50% discounted price of €425,000. The organisation had submitted a formal request for land to establish a place of worship and cultural hub for the Hindu community. Following deliberations, the council overwhelmingly approved the proposal, with 28 councillors voting in favour, one against, and five abstaining.
A Landmark Decision for Cultural Integration
Councillors emphasised that the decision underscores Ireland’s commitment to cultural diversity and respect for Indian traditions, acknowledging the substantial contributions of the Indian community to the country’s economy and society.
Apurva Charity has announced that the temple’s architecture will reflect traditional Hindu design principles, featuring:
- A sacred dome (Shikhara) symbolising the Supreme Soul
- A sanctum (Garbhagriha) for worship
- A prayer hall for devotees
- A grand entrance corridor leading to the main hall

The proposed temple and cultural centre will serve as a spiritual and social gathering space, fostering religious, cultural, and educational activities for Hindus in Ireland.
