Government Approves Labour Court Wage Increase Recommendations for Construction Workers

Dublin: The Irish government has formally accepted Labour Court recommendations to raise minimum wage rates, as well as pension and sick pay benefits, for construction workers. The increases are set out in an amendment to the Sectoral Employment Order (SEO) of 2023, making these provisions legally binding for employers. According to the new SEO, minimum wage rates will rise by 3.4% in 2025, followed by an additional 3.2% increase in August 2026.

This decision follows an application by trade unions BATU, CONNECT, OPATSI, SIPTU, and UNITE, which requested a review of employment conditions within the construction sector. A government spokesperson emphasised that the adoption of these recommendations will support economic stability and improve standards in the housing sector.
