ICC Announced Reversed Dates for Men’s and Women’s T20 World Cup; Australia to Host the 2022 T20 WC

The International Cricket Council (ICC) recently announced the confirmation regarding the T20 World Cup. Friday ICC confirmed that ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2020, which was postponed because of Covid-19, will take place in Australia in 2022.

The 2021 Men’s T20 WC will be going as per the schedule, where India will be the host. Women’s Cricket WC which was about to take place next year has been pushed to 2022.

“Over the last few months as we have considered how we return to staging global events, our number one priority has been to protect the health and safety of everyone involved in ICC events.” Said Imran Khwaja, ICC Acting Chairman.

He also thanked partners at the BCCI, Cricket Australia and Cricket New Zealand as well as the Australian and New Zealand governments for extending their support.

There won’t be any changes in the format of ICC Men’s T20 WC 2021, it will remain as it was for 2020. All the team qualified for the 2020 WC will play the WC in India in 2021. Where as a new qualification process will be made for the 2022, ICC Men’s T20 World Cup.

The formats of the Women’s T20 WC will also remain the same, the criteria and the formats planned for the 2021 will be carried on to 2022 WC.

The qualification events for the Women’s WC will take place in 2021. Previously it was planned to happen in Sri Lanka in July,2020.
