India’s men’s junior hockey team clinched a record-extending fifth title at the Junior Asia Cup 2024, defeating arch-rivals Pakistan 5-3 in an electrifying final held in Muscat, Oman, on Wednesday. Araijeet Singh Hundal emerged as the star of the match, scoring four goals, while Dilraj Singh added another to secure the victory.
Pakistan initially seized the lead, but India’s quick response, courtesy of Araijeet, levelled the score almost immediately. The Indian side then surged ahead to a 3-1 advantage, only for Pakistan to rally back and equalise at 3-3. In the decisive fourth quarter, Araijeet showcased his brilliance with two more goals, ensuring a memorable win for India. For Pakistan, Sufyan Khan netted twice, and Hannan Shahid contributed one goal.
