Dublin: Intel has announced plans to close its Research and Development office in Shannon by the third quarter of next year, affecting around 250 staff. While no compulsory redundancies are expected, employees may transition to other locations, work remotely, or take voluntary retirement or redundancy packages. Some staff may be relocated to Intel’s Leixlip campus in Co. Kildare.
The closure is part of Intel’s global strategy to consolidate real estate and focus on fewer, more populated sites. This comes amid a broader restructuring, with Intel cutting over 15% of its global workforce and pursuing cost-saving measures.
