“Kolkata Knight Riders Defeat Sunrisers Hyderabad by Eight Wickets: KKR 164/2, SRH 159”

Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma are known for their explosive starts, often dominating the first six overs of IPL 2024 matches. However, in the first qualifier held in Ahmedabad, it was Mitchell Starc who stole the spotlight. Starc’s devastating opening spell of 3-0-22-3 dismantled Sunrisers Hyderabad’s top order, securing Kolkata Knight Riders’ place in the IPL final in Chennai on Sunday. Following Starc’s brilliance, Varun Chakravarthy controlled the middle overs, helping to bowl out SRH for 159 in 19.3 overs. In response, Shreyas Iyer and Venkatesh Iyer both scored unbeaten half-centuries, leading KKR to victory with more than six overs remaining.

Sunrisers Hyderabad will now compete against the winner of the eliminator between Rajasthan Royals and Royal Challengers Bangalore for a chance to challenge KKR again in the final.
