Man Fatally Stabbed in Dublin’s Grafton Street: Gardaí Launch Murder Investigation
Dublin: A 30-year-old man has died following a stabbing incident in Dublin’s city centre, prompting Gardaí to intensify their murder investigation. The attack occurred in the early hours of Saturday morning, leaving a second man injured and receiving medical treatment.
Details of the Incident
The stabbing took place between 2:45 a.m. and 3:30 a.m. on South Anne Street/Duke Lane Upper, just off Grafton Street. According to initial reports, the attack stemmed from an altercation between two groups engaged in illicit activities.
Emergency services responded swiftly, and the critically injured victim was transported to St. James’s Hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries. The second victim remains hospitalised.
A forensic examination was conducted at the scene, and a senior investigating officer has been appointed to lead the inquiry. Gardaí have confirmed that the investigation is ongoing.

Authorities are urging any witnesses to come forward, particularly those who may have been in the Dawson Street and St. Stephen’s Green areas during the time of the attack.

Sinn Féin’s Justice Spokesperson, Matt Carthy, called the incident deeply troubling and highlighted ongoing public safety issues in Dublin’s city centre. He urged the government to increase Garda presence on the streets and demanded that Minister O’Callaghan implement an urgent plan to improve security.
