Narendra Modi Set to be Sworn in as Prime Minister on Sunday

New Delhi: Narendra Modi will be sworn in as the Prime Minister for a third term on Sunday, following an invitation from President Draupadi Murmu to form the new government. This development comes after Modi was unanimously elected as the parliamentary party leader of the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA).

President Murmu extended the invitation to Modi after he visited Rashtrapati Bhavan, along with key allies including TDP president Chandrababu Naidu, JD (U) president Nitish Kumar, and Shiv Sena leader Eknath Shinde. During the visit, Modi presented a letter of support from these allied parties to the President.

Modi’s Statement

After the meeting with the President, Modi addressed the media, expressing his gratitude to the citizens for giving the NDA government another opportunity to serve. He emphasised that the country is entering a new era, which he described as the “Amrit era,” and expressed his commitment to working with the same dedication over the next five years to realise the nation’s dreams.

Although the BJP does not hold an absolute majority on its own, the support from other NDA constituent parties will enable the formation of the government. Modi’s election as the NDA parliamentary party leader took place at a meeting in the Central Hall of the Old Parliament House earlier today. In his address, Modi highlighted the importance of consensus in governance and expressed his gratitude for being chosen as the unanimous leader.
