Dublin: Prime Minister Leo Varadkar has indicated that Ireland may prioritise providing financial aid to countries handling refugee resettlement rather than directly accepting refugees. In light of Ireland’s ongoing housing crisis, characterised by severe challenges in offering emergency accommodation, Varadkar emphasised the complexities involved in directly welcoming refugees. Instead, he expressed Ireland’s willingness to extend financial support to other European Union governments engaged in refugee relocation efforts.
