Prime Minister Leo Varadkar has downgraded the protests against foreign workers at the Dublin hospital
Dublin: Prime Minister Leo Varadkar has downgraded the protests against foreign workers at the Dublin hospital. The Prime Minister stated that the issue was raised with him by a health trade union leader the other day, and they described such behaviour as appalling.
When responding to Solidarity TD Mick Barry, Leo Varadkar stated that the right was “trying to get ahead” by supporting anti-refugee protests.
He added that he regrets that the foreign health workers who come to Ireland and do health work for us have faced protests, and the government will respond to this.
Leo Varadkar also stated that the National Action Plan Against Racism, which will be led by Integration Minister Roderic O’Gorman, will begin in early March.
The Prime Minister also stated that no one wants race or immigration to become a focal point in politics over skin colour and family background.
Regarding the resettlement of refugees, the prime minister said that there is no excuse for any form of racial hatred.
