SD Urges Travellers with Expiring Permissions to Apply for Renewal Ahead of Christmas Holidays

The Immigration Services Registration Office at Burgh Quay in Dublin is presently encountering an exceptionally high volume of applications for IRP card renewals, resulting in a current processing period of approximately 3–4 weeks. Additionally, following the successful renewal of registration, it may take an additional two weeks to receive the new IRP card by mail. It’s important to note that having an up-to-date IRP card is often necessary for international travel to and from the country.

In light of this situation and with a focus on facilitating non-EEA nationals who are legally residing in the country and intend to travel during the upcoming Christmas holiday season, the Minister is strongly encouraging customers to submit their renewal applications online by October 31, 2023.

Consequently, non-EEA nationals within the Dublin area who are in need of renewing their IRP card, either before or during their planned international travel for the upcoming Christmas holidays, are advised to promptly apply through the ISD online portal. Given the current processing times, which are approaching nearly 6 weeks, the Immigration Services Registration Office at Burgh Quay in Dublin cannot guarantee that renewal applications submitted after the 31st of October 2023 will be processed and the new IRP cards delivered in time to enable travel over the Christmas holiday period.
