Sinn Féin, in first place, has shown its strength in Northern Ireland

Belfast: Sinn Féin wins local government elections in Northern Ireland. Sinn Féin is expected to win the most seats and become the first party after the second day of counting is completed today.

The results for 292 of the 462 seats were revealed. Sinn Féin won 94 seats, the DUP 85 seats, the APNI 40 seats, Independents and Others 17 seats, the Ulster Unionist Party 35 seats, and the SDLP 21 seats.

After the first day of counting, Sinn Féin had won 20 more seats than in the last election.
The party even managed to win seats in unionist towns such as Banbridge and Ballymena.
It is forecast to win 20 more seats than it did in 2019, overtaking the DUP to become the largest party in local government.

The Alliance Party is fighting for third place, fighting to overtake the Ulster Unionists and the SDLP.

“We are very happy with it. We ran a very positive campaign, and we are very happy that the response to it has been very positive in return. “This is undoubtedly a vote for progress, change, positivity, and above all, working together,” said Sinn Fein leader Mary Lou McDonald.
