Water supply may be interrupted on Friday, June 30

Dublin: Water delivery workers working under local councils are due to go on strike on Friday, June 30, which could disrupt water supplies in parts of Ireland.

The strike has been announced by the Unit Trade Union.

The union said that the strike was announced in protest against the government’s move to transfer employees from the councils to the water authority.

Members of more than 100 units will participate in the strike. Workers will be absent for 24 hours and picketed in various locations. Minister Darragh O’Brien intervened and postponed the previously announced strike, but the employees are preparing to strike again.
