Met Éireann issued status yellow snow and ice warning for 13 counties

DUBLIN: Met Éireann has issued a status yellow snow and ice warning for Cork and 12 other counties. It has been warned that there is a possibility of snow falling to the lower level.

The warning, which went into effect at midnight yesterday, will continue until 12 noon today.

In addition to Cork, warnings have been issued for Carlow, Kildare, Kilkenny, Laois, Wexford, Wicklow, Offaly, Donegal, Leitrim, Sligo, Tipperary and Waterford counties. The five northern counties have also similar warnings.

A status yellow snow and ice warning is in place for Antrim, Armagh, Fermanagh, Tyrone and Derry. The warning was issued at these places from yesterday evening till 11.59 pm today (Wednesday).

The UK Met Office has predicted that last night there will be clear spells and that today there will be an icy start.

“Rain, sleet and snow across the southern half of the country will clear southeastwards during the day with bright spells and scattered wintry showers following from the northwest,” Met Éireann said.

Met Éireann also predict that in the coming days of the week there will be “cold and showery” with “widespread frost and ice by night”.
