Brext: Certificate is required to transport pets from UK to EU countries

LONDON: With just days to go before Brexit, it is reported that a special certificate will be required to transport pets from the UK to EU countries.

The Brexit guidelines state that owners must prepare an animal protection certificate at least 10 days prior to the trip. When it was part of the European Union, a passport alone was enough to transport pets from UK to other member states.

Certificates documenting the health of the animal should be prepared 10 days prior to the trip. The guideline states that animals must be microchip attached and vaccinated. The one-time certificate is valid for four months.

With this, the UK will be in a similar position to countries like the US, Russia and Australia in the EU countries after Brexit in terms of pets.
