Covid outbreak in Nursing home; 31 positive cases reported from a single facility

21 residents and 10 staffs at Kilminchy Lodge Nursing Home in Portlaoise are tested positive for Covid-19.

Altogether this nursing home in Co Laois have 31 confirmed covid cases. The management said that the affected inmates have been isolated from others and proper information has been passed on to the relatives of all residents.

The nursing home managements said that they are working hand in hand with the HIQA and health experts to resolve and control the virus outbreak. There are also reports which says that two of the infected residents are admitted in hospital.

The relatives of the two residents commented that they were taken to hospital and their conditions are not worse or life-threatening.

But the spokesperson for the nursing home hesitated to give words about the virus outbreak and the conditions of the 21 positive residents.

Certain reports based on the nursing home virus outbreaks says that last, Thursday another resident at the same nursing home was shifted to midlands and now this person has also tested positive for Covid-19.

There are reports of virus out breaks from other nursing homes too and it is expected that the authorities will look into these issues seriously and extend their support to the nursing homes.
