Drink-driving; Off-duty Garda arrested

A garda was arrested in Cork on suspicion of drink-driving over the weekend and investigation is under process.

It was on Saturday morning that a car and a van collide each other at Silver Spring Hills in Cork City. Gardaí were called to the scene.

An off-duty member of the gardaí underwent a breath test on the roadside, but failed. Later he was taken to the Gurranabraher Garda Station and later released without charge.

Gardaí said that the driver of the van was treated for minor injuries at Cork University Hospital.

A senior officer has been appointed to investigate the matter and a file is to be sent to the Director of Public Prosecutions.
