Everest grew 86 cm more!

China and Nepal end dispute over the height of Mount Everest. The two countries jointly announced the height of Everest.

According to the latest figures, the height of Mount Everest announced by both countries is 8848.86 meters. This is 86 cm more than what India estimated in 1954.

Nepal has decided to re-calculate the height of Mount Everest after discussions began that it had changed in height since the 2015 earthquake.

According to the 1954 Indian Survey, the height of Mount Everest was
8848 m.

The agreement was reached after Chinese President Xi Jinping visited Nepal last year.

Everest was described by both countries as an immortal symbol of friendship between the two countries.
