Gardai arrested a Man for car-jacking

A man in his 40s was arrested by Gardai after he stole a women’s car by threatening her at knifepoint in East Wall, Dublin on Monday.

A short time later, the man was stopped by local Gardai, ASU, and Roads Policing Units on the N3.

The woman in her 40s was approached on the forecourt of a garage in East Wall by the man and after this the Gardai were alerted to the car-jacking incident at approximately 10.30am on Monday morning.

‘It’s understood he threatened her at knifepoint and demanded her car keys before driving off in her car,’ a spokesperson from An Garda Siochana stated.

He also said that he car was intercepted a short time later on the N3 following a managed containment operation involving local Gardaí, ASU and Roads Policing Units.

‘The occupant of the car, a man in his 40s, was arrested and taken to Store Street Garda Station where he was detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984.’ the spokesperson said.

The man has appeared before a sitting of Dublin District Court (CCJ 1) on 5/1/2021 charged in connection with the case.

The spokesperson also said that the investigations regarding the car theft is ongoing.
