India Crowned T20 World Cup 2026 Champions After Dominant Win Over New Zealand

India national cricket team secured the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 title with a commanding 96-run victory over New Zealand national cricket team in the final at Narendra Modi Stadium on Sunday.

Batting first, India posted a record 255/5 — the highest total ever in a T20 World Cup final. Sanju Samson top-scored with 89, while Abhishek Sharma struck the fastest half-century of the tournament off just 18 balls. Ishan Kishan added a quickfire 54, and Shivam Dube contributed a rapid late cameo.

In reply, New Zealand were bowled out for 159 in 19 overs, with Jasprit Bumrah claiming four wickets and Axar Patel taking three.

The victory marks a historic achievement for India, who became the first team to successfully defend a T20 World Cup title, win the tournament three times, and lift the trophy on home soil.
