Indian Workers Report Highest Earnings in Ireland, Says CSO

Dublin: National statistics have revealed that Indian workers in Ireland earn the highest average weekly wages among all nationalities. According to the Central Statistics Office (CSO), Indian workers earn an average of €876.04 per week, slightly lower than last year but still well ahead of other groups.

By comparison, UK nationals earn an average of €780 per week, while Irish citizens earn €762.72. At the other end of the scale, Ukrainian workers earn less than €500 per week, although they receive a range of social supports. Brazilian workers also fall on the lower end of the pay scale, averaging under €563 weekly.

The CSO report highlights that 72.5% of Ireland’s workforce is Irish, with 27.5% made up of non-Irish nationals. Indians, who account for just 2% of the overall population, represent 3.1% of total employment, largely due to their significant presence in the healthcare sector, which has boosted both employment share and average salaries.

Other notable groups in the workforce include Polish citizens (3.2%) and UK nationals (2.7%).

In terms of age distribution, the report shows that 26.4% of jobs in Ireland are held by people aged 15–24. Among non-Irish workers, the figure is considerably lower, at 13%.
